Hello Night to Shine Volunteers!!! (If you are trying to register a special needs guest, please click this link) Night To Shine - Special Guests
Night to Shine is an incredible event, and we can't wait to partner with YOU to pull it off!! Here are a few things to know:
- All volunteers must be at least 16 years old to serve.
- Background checks and a SIGNED Media Release Form are required for ALL volunteers. There is a $7 non-refundable fee for background checks. Check your confirmation email and be sure to click the link so we can run that on your behalf. It takes a little while to run a check, so please do this as soon as you can. If this form is not complete 1 week before the event, you will be unable to serve. You may sign the media release form at church on Sundays or on the night of the event. (IF YOU DID YOUR BACKGROUND CHECK LAST YEAR, YOU ARE NOT REQUIRED TO DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR)
- Everyone is REQUIRED to watch a video training. Click this link to access the video.
- Spots are limited per team. If the team you prefer is full, please either register for an open team, or email us so we can alert you if a spot opens.
- We ask that you register for what you would like to do, as long as spots are open. That said, we do reserve the right to change your assignment to an area with a greater need, if required. We will notify you if your team assignment changes!
Please read below for descriptions of the available teams/roles:
Buddies: Each guest is required to be accompanied by a buddy who will provide companionship and any general assistance needed during the event. ** PLEASE NOTE: Being a buddy is fun, but also a very serious commitment. By registering you are committing to watch the training video and to be at the event on February 13, 2024. As a "Date" to a special needs guest, dress-code is formal attire.
Caregiver Event Team: This event is specifically for the parents/caregivers of our guests. It takes place during the prom. Volunteers are needed to assist with greeting, serving, praying for and loving on each person who attends.
Coat Check: Volunteers will work at a station with coat racks in the foyer using a number and color-coded system to store all coats and return them to the guests at the end of the night.
Decorating/Set-up: This team will help set up chairs, tablecloths, and decorations the day of the event (Friday February 13th) from 2PM - 5PM. This team will not stay for the event. You can sign up for an additional team if you would like to attend Night to Shine.
Door Team: Our Doors Team plays a crucial role in making sure Night to Shine is a friendly and safe event throughout the night. Each member of the team will be strategically placed throughout the building (usually at a doorway) to ensure guests who pass that way are greeted, welcomed, and remain in the areas of the building that are open for festivities. We’ll expect you to remain at your station while you’re serving, however you will be given the opportunity to experience the event at designated break times throughout the night.
Hairstyle: Experience needed: Members of the hairstyle team will be doing touch ups and simple prom styles. Styling volunteers need to have experience with straightening/curling hair.
Makeup: Volunteers will be standing the majority of the evening and serving guests with makeovers including eye, lip and cheek application. Makeup will be provided.
Shoe Shine: Shoe shining will take place throughout the evening. Volunteers need to be able to kneel to shine shoes. Training will be provided on site.
